Individuals and groups PEER offers support/mentorship to people and groups who have an idea for a new business, an existing business or a community enterprise. It is a completely free and confidential service in Rossendale. The PEER philosophy is always about helping people understand
their options so that they can make their own decision. This is where
it differs from mainstream consultancy. Some decisions are big and can be life changing. Some decisions are complex and require professional assistance, i.e. solicitors or accountants. Some decisions just need confidence and someone to say ‘well done’. The Peer Facilitator, Andy MacNae, supported by the Peer Board can help you through your difficulties and your opportunities. PEER supporting social enterprises When it comes to supporting other Social Enterprises PEER's
approach remains focused on the same fundamentals as for any other business.
But at the same time it recognises that there are a range of issues
specific to Social Enterprise that needs additional capacity. PEER recognised
that many organisations are grant reliant and these are becoming harder
to get. There was also a need to provide 'hands on' support for small
community groups struggling to develop into a structured sustainable
organisation with just a few willing volunteers. PEER supported the
development of Rossendale Enterprise Anchor Limited (REAL), an infrastructure
body that can help by offering practical ‘hands on’ support,
